The Leader in Me

Winfield Elementary is proud to be a “Leader in Me” school. The Leader in Me is a whole school process that teaches 21st century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader.

By developing the WHOLE child – socially, emotionally, academically and ethically – the “Leader in Me” program fosters a climate of personal leadership. The principles of Dr. Stephen R. Covey, author of the 7 HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE PEOPLE, are embedded in our school’s culture and guide our students, faculty and staff in building the leadership model. Students identify and set their own academic and personal goals as well as track their progress and growth over the course of the school year. Students also learn social etiquette and develop communication and presentation skills through student-led programming including a daily news broadcast, school-wide assemblies, leadership events, and community service projects
