If we are in school, tutoring will begin and will continue the days tutoring would normally be scheduled if you are in school.
FREE MEALS AVAILABLE FOR ALL PCS STUDENTS: This meal service is free of charge and available for ALL students, whether or not enrolled in the meal benefit program. Therefore, we encourage all families to take advantage of this opportunity. Daily pick-up times for meals are from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm at each school. Families will pick-up meals at their students’ home school location, curbside while remaining in the vehicle. If transportation is a problem, families may contact their home school to request meal delivery assistance.

Congratulations to our seniors who took the SAT School Day test this September. The senior class had a very strong showing on the assessment: 45% of seniors were proficient in math and English 48% of seniors were proficient in math 75% of seniors were proficient in English These numbers put us ahead of both the county and state averages and are a proficient percentage than the Class of 2020 which finished 5th in math and 4th in English statewide. The Class of 2021 out scored the county averages in math by 6% and English by 5%. They also outscored the state averages in math by 19% and English by 15%. Great job Class of 2021!!

We will begin the process of selling parking passes tomorrow. You will need to pick up a form from Ms. Pritchard either tomorrow or Wednesday. When you return either Thursday or Friday, you need to bring the completed form and $20 (cash or check) to Ms. Pritchard. The forms and payments will take place in the commons during lunches. Students may pick up forms/pay for their parking pass during lunch only. Sophomore parking passes will be available at a later date, depending on how many spaces are available.
Today is opening day for the Promise Scholarship application and FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). A post was sent out to all seniors with instructions for completing the Promise application. Please encourage them to do this ASAP! Also if you need assistance completing the FAFSA you can call The West Virginia Higher Educaion Policy Commission at 304-558-4618. In the future we hope to also offer a FAFSA workshop at HHS. If you have any questions please contact the counselor for your student.
Nominations for class attendants will be submitted via Schoology. Mrs. Barnes has created groups in Schoology for each grade level; within those groups are forms to nominate class attendants. The nomination form will be open from now until noon on Friday. Class attendants will be announced Friday afternoon. The final vote for Miss and Mr. Redskin will take place next week.

Attention students and parents who have elected PCS Virtual School. Laptop pick up procedures will be as follows: To pick up the laptop that is being issued to you from Putnam County Schools, a parent/guardian and student MUST be present. There are multiple forms that need to be signed and returned before we can issue the device. NO EXCEPTIONS. When you arrive to HHS parking lot you will see a red tent . Pull up and do not get out of your vehicle. A staff member will hand you an envelope with several items that need to be read and signed. Please park, sign all papers, and return them to the envelope. Then, report to the red table in front of the building while practicing social distancing and wearing a mask at all times. Someone will direct you where to go to turn in your packet and receive the device. It is important that you login to the computer before you leave the parking lot. Monday, August 31: 8:30 - 11:30: Seniors with parent/guardian. 12:30 - 3:30: Juniors with parent/guardian. Tuesday, September 1: 8:30 - 11:30: Sophomores with parent/guardian. 12:30 - 3:30: Freshmen with parent/guardian. Wednesday, September 2: Make Up Day 4:00 - 4:30: Seniors with parent/guardian. 4:30 - 5:00: Juniors with parent/guardian. 5:00 - 5:30: Sophomores with parent/guardian. 5:30 - 6:00: Freshmen with parent/guardian.
HHS Seniors must show documentation of Tdap (if not done in 7th grade) and Meningococcal (booster after age 16) Vaccines on the first day of school. A well-child checkup and dental exam are also required.These requirements are for traditional AND virtual students. If you have questions, please contact the school nurse.
